What goes into an Australian drive-away price
The list price is the price of the vehicle itself. The drive-away price is the all-inclusive total you pay to legally drive it away — the list price plus the statutory charges below.
Stamp duty
Vehicle registration duty charged by the state on the dutiable value, usually tiered by price band and sometimes by vehicle or fuel type.
Registration
The fee to register the vehicle for road use, set by the state or territory road authority, including admin and plate components.
CTP / green slip
Compulsory third-party personal-injury insurance required to register a vehicle. Structure differs sharply by jurisdiction.
Luxury car tax
A federal tax applied above the LCT threshold (with a higher threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles).
